About the area: The Luangwa Valley & Lake Malawi

Learn about the area specific to this safari package

South Luangwa National Park

The South Luangwa is probably the most famous of all Zambia’s wildlife havens and is deservedly considered amongst the elite of African wilderness regions. Fantastic leopard populations, hippo, lion and elephant are complimented by a healthy range of other species too.

Luambe National Park

Luambe National Parkis located on the eastern bank of the Luangwa River, halfway between South and North Luangwa National Park and is one of the oldest protected areas in Zambia.

Because of its remote location on the eastern bank of the Luangwa river, the Park has remained essentially unchanged – largely because it’s off the beaten track, a secluded, tranquil place not covered by the usual tourist routes. Luambe is situated between the larger Luangwa national parks to its north and south, however, to those who visit it Luambe is often considered to be the jewel in the crown.

Lake Malawi & Lokomo Island

Lake Malawi is the jewel in the crown of the country’s tourist attractions. This is the ‘inland sea’ of the otherwise land-locked Malawi. This vast body of crystal clear freshwater fringed by beaches of golden sand is not only a scenic wonderland but it provides water sport opportunities for those looking for something beyond sun, sand and swimming. Lake Malawi is a wonderland that offers all types of water sports and activities expected of any tropical beach destination. There are boats and boards of all types available to have fun with and to explore the waters, islands and beaches of the lake.
